Hi,
I was running Vista Business edition (32 bit), but then got (or rather someone got for me) Vista Ultimate 64 bit version (my processor is 64 bits).
I did a clean install of Ultimate. After the first boot into the OS (and after I installed drivers for my hardware), the system always boots into Test Mode now. Does anyone have any suggestions why? I heard it might be because a driver is not digitally signed. I did have an issue with a Genesys Logic driver - Vista reported it wasn't digitally signed.
Also, as an aside issue, my computer comes with a biometric device (fingerprint reader) and with Vista Business edition, the welcome screen gave me two options - to use the fingerprint reader or enter a password. Now, the welcome screen only gives me a place to enter a password (though, surprisingly, sliding my finger on the fingerprint reader DOES work and will log me in..)
Thanks,
-Andrew

Does it look something like this?

Try this
[windows key] > type cmd | press CTRL+SHIFT + ENTER (to enter an elevated command prompt)
> type bcdedit.exe /set testsigning off then press ENTER > Restart your machine.

I'm not sure what it does. This was actually one of my first topics I posted when I joined the forum and I never got an answer on what caused it. Here's my original thread: http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=7230
