I have noticed that if I use Windows Live or uninstall/ install a Windows Live application I lose the snipping tool. I literally have to go back and reselect teh tablet pc in windows options. Any idea what is going?

I posted a couple days ago about the snipping tool disappearing when I use Windows Live. I have noticed that is not the case. My snipping tool keeps disappearing randomly. The PC Tablet features are selected and are usable except for the snipping tool. I have to actually go to add remove feature from Windows. I have to first remove the PC tablet features and then add it to get the snipping tool back. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

Can you still get to it by pressing Winkey + R and typing in SnippingTool.exe?

Amon91's suggestion is a good one. I'd also suggest running a "sfc /scannow" from your command prompt.

That works. I am trying to figure out why it keeps disappearing when I open any of the live programs. I just noticed that it happens to Movie Maker and DVD Maker. I have to enter the file path of the exe file to find them. I cant browse to them with in all programs from the start menu like I was able to.

When the shortcut is gone, try opening Windows Explorer and navigating over to "\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories". Can you see the shortcut there? If you can't try creating it and see if it solves the problem.

As an alternative to the snipping tool, you can try FastStone Capture. This is the last free version: ( http://www.aplusfreeware.com/categor...neCapture.html ). It has a lot more functions than the snipping tool and is nice for enhancing the snips with comments, arrows, boxes, etc.
