    Thumbs up

    This link: http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=2443

....while searching for solution to my missing SR icon, I stumbled on this internet blog published by Ed Bott that recommended a dll installation he discovered or invented (or something) which I installed trusting the nearly 100 feedback comments attesting to its efficacy in boosting IE 8 speed.

And it really does work. My speed was already fast, but now I am noticeably much faster. I just don't know if I had subjected myself to unknown risk/s.

I wonder if you guys know about this.

I wouldn't say outright that this is due to the placebo effect but I strongly suspect so. Registering a DLL that is already registered should have no effect. And if wasn't registered then IE8 wouldn't work at all. But I could be wrong. There are many things in Windows that appear to make no sense, until you understand them. But based on what I do know this makes no sense. If this actually worked why didn't Microsoft discover this long ago? NOBODY, understands Windows and Internet Explorer better than Microsoft.

LMiller7 is probably right. I doubt registering DLLs would in any way affect the engine's speed, unless I'm missing something here. I still think this is the best IE speed booster ever.

    Cool

Placebo effect? No way!!! I am very very very sure I am much faster with this booster.

A month ago, in anticipation of my forthcoming 4 month globetrotting holiday, (to save some money) I downgraded from the fastest(most expensive) to the slowest(cheapest) cable connection which took effect only a week ago at which time I did slow down noticeably. With the booster, I am very sure I am speedier than before I downgraded.

In my mind I am back (and better) to the most expensive cable connection.....without paying for it. Unless, of course, there is some catch to this "free" booster.
