This is a problem that has been ongoing for some considerable time now including in my previous installation of Windows Vista on this machine.
Problem 1
Quite frequently, Windows will log on but fail to connect to the System Event Notification Service.
Problem 2
After waking the machine up from sleep, there will be no sound (Windows needs to reinstall the driver), the USB ports won't read peripherals (such as USB sticks) and the system will sometimes BSOD.
In Vista I never really did any digging around on how to solve the problems. Now that I am using 7, however, I have been looking more into the issues. What I have discovered is this:
Observation 1
Every time Windows fails to connect to the System Event Notification Service I get this error:
The Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service hung on starting
This then prevents the Windows Audio service from starting.
Observation 2
After the latest BSOD I looked at the event viewer and discovered this error which occurred before the BSOD:
The platform firmware has corrupted memory across the previous system power transition. Please check for updated firmware for your system
12 minutes after that and 10 minutes before the BSOD the following two errors occurred:
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the AudioEndpointBuilder service
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the Netman service
Then the BSOD happened, which was a 'power state transition failure'.
Quite obviously the common denominator across the two problems is the Windows Audio Endpoint Builder. I have uninstalled the Realtek audio driver (which is the specific Windows Vista/7 32-bit driver) and let Windows install its own audio driver yet the problem still persists.
Does anyone know what I can do to solve these problems?CPU

I think you mean to say all this happens in Windows 7..
How did you get Windows 7 ? Did you install it yourself or did your manufacturer do it for you ?
If you had done it yourself you may just want to reinstall the OS.
Problem 1 must be because the OS is not installed correctly.
The second problem may be because of incompatible hardware.
But if you don't mind these problems then just adjust with it. And also make sure you do a check of your hardware with Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to know which hardware could give you problems...Name: Siddhu

I seemed to have solved the two problems.
Problem 1
I have uninstalled the Realtek audio driver and let Windows use its own. This seems to have cured the System Event... error.
Problem 2
I updated the system's BIOS and since then it has woken up from Sleep with no issues.CPU
