Hello all. Today, I start my new adventure on linux. I have chosen Ubuntu LInux, as I have heard a lot from my friends that ubuntu is a great distro. What I want o know is, how can I install Beryl on this version? I have googled for an answer, but it appears to work on 7.04 for now. Can anyone supply step-by-step instructions on how to install it? Thanks a lot for your time.

Beryl is outdated and no longer used. Compiz is installed in Ubuntu by default. See the 3rd item in this list: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2009/10/1...nstalling.html
There is a war going on for your mind.

Yeah, Beryl was discontinued 3 years ago and merged with Compiz, so no releases are planned. Ubuntu comes with Compiz built-in (as "effects" under the Ubuntu appearance settings) and if you want more control, there's an awesome app called Compiz-Config which you can get off Ubuntu's "app store".
